Washington and Lee University Leyburn Library Renovation

Lexington, Virginia – $1.5M Complete renovation of the 32,000 SF main floor of W+L’s Leyburn Library on a compressed schedule and budget.

The renovated library now provides students with a learning environment that is both technologically modernized and spatially appealing for students.

A new entry has been created to establish a better connection to new student activity areas on campus. Innovative gathering places and quiet study areas were designed with an emphasis on students rather than books and staff.

A new information desk capable of answering questions covering the spectrum of library services, is located front and center. This “one stop shop” will ensure that students and faculty are able to take full advantage of the broad range of services offered in the library.

Mark McConnel was project manager on this project while with another firm.
